Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Garden

The Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Garden at the Vintage Flying Museum is a collaborative effort between the American Rosie the Riveter Association Fort Worth Chapter, the Vintage Flying Museum and the Fort Worth Rose Society.

Rosie the Riveter is the collective name given to the women who went to work in industry jobs typically held by men thus releasing the men for military duty. Rosies worked in several industries including aviation, weaponry, ship building, farming and others. Volunteer Rosies contributed to the war effort by collecting materials such as scrap metal, growing a victory garden or volunteering at the USO.

There were over 6 Million Rosies and 10 Million Rosie Volunteers.

In 2018, the Spirit of 45 organization had the idea to create a living memorial to honor the Rosie the Riveters. They partnered with Weeks Roses to develop the Rosie the Riveter Rose as a way to honor the women who served on the home front during WWII. Since these women served in their local communities, the goal is to create a memorial rose garden in every congressional district in the US.

How can you help?

There are several ways you can help bring this living memorial to life:

Memorial Bricks – $50/$100

Memorial bricks will make up several pathways within the garden. Bricks are available in two sizes 8×8 and 4×8. Customization determined based on the brick size.

Bricks can be purchased online at : www.bricksrus.com/donorsite/rosievfm

Sponsor a Rosie the Riveter Rose – $250

Honor the Rosie by sponsoring a Rosie the Riveter Rose in the Memorial Rose Garden. Includes a custom memorial marker and recognition on the Museum Wall of Rosies. Even if you don’t know a Rosie or have one in your family, you can still honor these amazing women by sponsoring one of the Rosie Roses.
